Studi Komparatif Pemikiran Al-Ghazali dan Abu Ubaid tentang Fungsi Uang Digital di Indonesia

This research aims to analyze and compare Al-Ghazali and Abu Ubaid's thoughts regarding the function of money in the context of digital money in Indonesia. Al-Ghazali, through his work Ihya Ulumuddin, emphasized the function of money as a medium of exchange and standard of exchange value, with an emphasis on justice and the prohibition of usury in transactions. Meanwhile, Abu Ubaid in Al-Amwal views money as a tool to support economic and social activities, with the important role of the government in regulating monetary stability. This research uses a literature study method by examining primary data sources from these two thinkers, and analyzing their relevance to digital money. The research results show that both thinkers have similar views regarding the function of money, emphasizing the importance of justice, ethics and regulation. In the context of digital money, these principles are relevant to ensure that the digital financial system can operate in accordance with sharia. This research suggests strengthening regulations, increasing digital financial literacy, developing ethical technology, and collaborating between government, academics, and industry to implement fair and sharia-compliant digital money in Indonesia. Thus, Al-Ghazali and Abu Ubaid's thoughts can become the basis for developing a digital financial system that supports sustainable and inclusive economic growth
